FRA Sandbox at JRNY’s 4th FinTech Ecosystem Retreat: Advancing Regulation Through Dialogue and Impact

JRNY’s FinTech Ecosystem Retreat served as a high-level platform for constructive engagement between regulators, ecosystem leaders, and innovators, with the Financial Regulatory Authority FRA playing a meaningful role in shaping the discussions and outcomes.

The FRA was represented by Eng. Ahmed Khalifa, Eng. Sherif Yehia, Mr. Hatem Nour, Dr. Moustafa Khalil, Mr. Walid A. Anwar, and Mr. Mahmoud Gebril, whose collective contributions reflected the Authority’s commitment to enabling innovation through clear, adaptive, and forward-looking regulatory frameworks.

Across panels and focused sessions, FRA representatives shared regulatory perspectives on fintech governance, digital transformation, crowdfunding, AI-enabled processes, capital markets innovation, and the evolving financing needs of SMEs. These discussions emphasized the importance of regulatory clarity, proportional oversight, and early dialogue with innovators to ensure sustainable market development while safeguarding financial stability.

The FRA Sandbox played a key role in demonstrating how regulatory engagement can move beyond theory into practice. This participation also marked one of the first activations of the MOU signed a few weeks ago, signaling a transition from strategic alignment to concrete collaboration with ecosystem stakeholders.

Key outcomes of the retreat included strengthened regulatory–market dialogue, clearer expectations for innovators, and deeper alignment on how regulation can actively support responsible fintech growth in Egypt’s non-bank financial sector. These outcomes will be formally presented to Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh , Chairman of the FRA later next month, and we extend our appreciation for his continued leadership and support in driving innovation and fostering a dynamic fintech ecosystem.

Together, we are moving from discussion to implementation — and from innovation to impact.

We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to Mr. Ahmed Salah Seddik and the JRNY team for their valuable support and exceptional organization
Special thanks for contribution to Mr. Mohamed Elnawawy, Dr. Sameh Eltorgoman and Mr. Sherif Samy.
